Henderson Fire Department responds to fire on Nebraska

Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- The Henderson Fire Department was called to a house fire early Sunday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. on Nebraska Street, near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Texas Avenue.

The fire was reported by a neighbor who saw fire coming from the backyard and called 911. The neighbor was able to alert the occupants of the home, as well as the family next door, whose home was also being threatened.

When crews arrived, heavy fire and smoke were showing from the backyard of the single-story residence.

There were two sheds and two vehicles fully involved in the yard.

The fire quickly spread to the attic of the adjacent home. The fire was brought under control within five minutes.

Six adults and three children were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

There were no injuries reported. Damage is estimated at $22,000.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
