Local dental clinic offers free services for one day
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local dental clinic offered services to children and a few adults today for free. The event was sponsored by the non profit organization, Dentistry From the Heart.
Local mom, Anna Trumbull, is currently unemployed and doesn't have health insurance. So when she saw a free dental clinic for kids, she jumped at the chance to bring her 9 year old son in for a check up.
"It's really nice to be able to come in and have his teeth checked out and hopefully we're on the right track," said Trumbull.
And like many parents in Southern Nevada, that struggle, getting their children seen for free is a huge savings.
"It's really really expensive," said Trumbull. "Just to get a filling done and see a dentist is usually over $100."
Dr. Kayla Mai at Sedation Dental Care holds these events every year through the non profit organization.
"We found that there is a need to get teeth done and people don't have money right now," said Mai. "We've been very lucky that we've been successful in this business, so we just wanted to give back to the community."
The free dental clinic was so popular last year that Sedation Dental decided to hold two events this year. Today they expect to see 60-70 patients, and more at their next clinic, this Fall.
"We're moving to a bigger office so we expect to serve double, triple, quadruple the size each year that we do it."
