Arrest made in attempted sexual assault
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have made an arrest after a woman reported an attempted sexual assault in west Las Vegas this week.
Police say the suspect, 30-year-old Joseph Lamrenje, may also be connected to recent burglaries in the same neighbhorhood, on Flamingo near Cimarron.
The investigation began when a woman told police a man attacked her inside her apartment while she was sleeping. She said she woke up to find a stranger on top of her who attempted to smother her with a pullow. She fought back and was able to free herself and provide police a description of the man.
Detectives discovered reports of several other residential burglaries in the same apartment complex. In one case, a burglary victim told police a man matching the same description threatened her with a weapon and stole her purse.
Police identified Lamrenje as the suspect. He was arrested and faces charges of attempted sexual assault with a weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a weapon and coercion with force.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Lamrenje is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
