LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Officials say two federal grants totaling $13 million will pay for low-emissions compressed natural gas public transit buses in Las Vegas.

Another $1.75 million grant will fund projects at the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's big bus maintenance facility.

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid announced the grants on Thursday.

He says they're from the U.S. Department of Transportation's State of Good Repair Program to help modernize the regional bus fleet, cut fuel costs and improve air quality by emitting less pollution.
