Community members speak out about Metro's use of force
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada is holding a series of community meetings this week to address Metro's use of force policy and how it affects minorities in the Valley.
Members of the local Hispanic community gathered Tuesday night to share their concerns.
Some people were there to listen, but many of them were there to share stories of what it's like to be on the receiving end of Metro's use of force.
Metro released a new use of force policy two weeks ago, which included recommendations from the ACLU, like stronger restrictions on the use of tasers and batons.
The ACLU is asking those who didn't participate Tuesday night to attend Wednesday night's community forum. It takes place at Asamblea Apostolica at 4509 East Bonanza Road from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In the coming weeks, the ACLU will begin focusing on Metro's use of force and the African-American community.
