Mitt Romney to address VFW convention in Reno
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will be in Reno where he will address the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Romney's appearance Tuesday before the VFW comes a day after President Barack Obama spoke to the same group.
Both are vying for the votes of military personnel and veterans in the November election.
In his speech, Obama stressed his accomplishments and reminded veterans of the promises he made and kept, including ending the war in Iraq and setting a timeline to bring troops home from Afghanistan.
He also pledged to do more to help veterans returning from combat readjust to civilian life and help them find jobs in the struggling economy.
Romney's speech Tuesday comes as he prepares for an overseas trip to highlight foreign policy.
