Fugitive killed by Henderson police identified
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 43-year-old man shot and killed by police in Henderson as a fugitive in the slaying of a man whose body was found in the desert July 4.
Officials say Andy Puente Soto was shot and killed after his car stalled and he tried to commandeer a passing vehicle a little after 9:10 a.m. near Boulder Highway and Warm Springs Road.
It's not immediately clear if Soto was armed. But Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul says Soto kept a hand in his waistband and refused to surrender before two Henderson police officers shot him.
Soto had been named in a murder warrant in the June 29 stabbing death of 36-year-old Scott Gerald Harrison.
Harrison's body was found July 4 in the desert between Las Vegas and Indian Springs.
