Poverty levels hitting drastic highs across country
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Poverty levels have hit drastic highs all over the country.
Census numbers won't be released until the fall but experts surveyed dozens of non-partisan economists, academics and "think tanks" to come up with the numbers.
According to them, we have not seen numbers this high since the 1960s.
They survey indicates the poverty level has grown from 15.1 percent to 15.7 percent.
And its spreading to record levels to many socioeconomic groups -- from unemployed workers to suburban families to the working poor.
More discouraged workers are giving up on the job market and unemployment aid is running out.
They also found that the suburbs are experiencing an increase in poverty. That includes battleground states such as Colorado, Florida and Nevada.
There is no doubt that this will be a major talking point come this fall, right before the general elections,
