Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police aren't providing much information about a possible homicide at an apartment complex, but those who knew the deceased man are speaking out.

Crime scene tape blocked access to several buildings at the Shelter Cove Apartments near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard Sunday morning as police investigated reports of a dead body inside.

A man questioned by investigators, who asked not to be identified, said his church asked him to help the victim recover from drug addiction.

The man identified the deceased as 37-year old Steven Meza. He said Meza's recovery was going well until 3 weeks ago.

“I suggested to go into a rehab house, the problem was he did not recognize that he had that problem,” the acquaintance said.

The man also said investigators provided him with some information about how the man died, “He was shot. Shot in the head, execution style.”

Officials have not confirmed the deceased man's name or age.  They also haven't confirmed if his death was indeed the result of a homicide.
