Animal Foundation needs your help
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Animal Foundation is in desperate need of help.
During the summer months, the shelter is confronted with more abandoned and unwanted animals than any other time of year.
More animals means more supplies are needed. Especially linens. The foundation is asking for donations of sheets, pillow cases and towels to make the growing number of homeless animals it's taking care of more comfortable.
The Animal Foundation goes through linens fast because the fabrics need to be disinfected often. Once something is ripped or torn, it can't be used again.
This comes as the shelter is already near capacity and seeing an influx of abandoned pets.
"We are seeing close to 200 new animals coming in every day," says Andy Bischel, The Animal Foundation's Director of Development. "We hold these animals for 72 hours minimum and then we try getting them out to adoptions. You can see we're holding 800-1,000 animals at any given time."
You can drop off donations daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Animal Foundation at 655 North Mojave Road. That's near East Bonanza and Mojave.
Also keep in mind that any items with stuffing, like pillows, comforters, and dog beds can only be use one time at the shelter, because they cannot be completely disinfected.
