Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Nevada Highway Patrol troopers believe a blown tire is to blame for the crash that killed a mother and her 3-year-old son on Wednesday.

The crash happened on Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Troopers say a Ford F-250 was pulling a trailer when a tire blew, flipping the truck.

The woman, later identified as 30-year-old Dani Jo Fox, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Medics attempted CPR on Dani's son Zachary at the scene, but were unsuccessful. The 3-year-old was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Dani's husband, who was driving the truck, and their two children were taken to University Medical Center. They are expected to recover from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Fox family lives in Overton, about 70 miles north of Las Vegas.

Troopers say the tragic crash is an opportunity to remind drivers to check their tires.

"Make sure you've got plenty of tread," Sgt. Kevin Honea said. "Tire safety is something that we often overlook, and during the summer months we see a lot of crashes."

A memorial fund has been set up to help for the Fox family. You can donate at any America First Credit Union location referencing the Fox Memorial Fund, Account #9054198.
