Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have identified the teen shot by an officer during an apparent robbery attempt at a 7-Eleven in northwest Las Vegas.

Authorities say 19-year-old Lawrence Howard was pointing a handgun at a store clerk when a police officer entered the building early Tuesday morning.

Witnesses said Howard pointed the gun at the officer, prompting the officer to shoot him.

Howard was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. He faces charges  including robbery with a deadly weapon and assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon.

After the ordeal, police searched the 7-Eleven and found a 17-year-old hiding under a counter. He was arrested and booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center facing robbery charges.

The officer involved in the shooting has not been identified.
