Mattress fire displaces 2 in Henderson
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- The City of Henderson Fire Department responded to a mattress fire at a mobile home near the intersection of Pawnee and Lake Mead Parkway at about 11 p.m. Monday night.
The occupants were at home and in bed when they were awakened by the smell of smoke. The adult male discovered a fire in the box spring of the bed that he was sleeping on.
The man and his wife were able to safely exit the residence and called 911.
The fire department was able to extinguish the fire quickly.
The couple and one of the firefighters were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
The Henderson Fire Department's fire investigator determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature. The man and his wife were displaced for the night. Damage is estimated at $1,500.
