Shelley Berkley defends herself against ethics allegations
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Nevada's Senate candidates were both campaigning in the Valley on Friday.
Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkely spoke to a crowd of hundreds of supporters in Henderson.
Representative Berkley is currently under investigation by the House Committee on Ethics, but says her supporters know there's nothing to the allegations. "There will be no question in anybody's mind that my only motivation was to make sure that the people of the State of Nevada had a kidney transplant program and it was their health and their well being that I was concerned about," said Berkley. The ethics probe is to determine if Berkley used her official powers to benefit her husband's business by writing letters in support of keeping a kidney care center open. It was while her husband had a contract with UMC to provide kidney care. Republican Senator Dean Heller didn't say much today about the Berkley investigation. "It was a stunning event (that it was unanimous decision) but beyond that, I don't know any detail. I'll let the voters here in Nevada decide," said Heller. Heller held a Q&A session today with supporters at Centurylink in Las Vegas.
