Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Firefighters responded to a fire at about 2:56 a.m. Friday at the Bradford Place Townhomes in the 3100 block of Chadford Place near South Arville Street and Pennwood Avenue.

According to the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, the fire was caused by careless smoking. A woman that lived in the condominium building told Action News that she was smoking and fell asleep and dropped her cigarette.

She said she tried to put the fire out but was unsuccessful.

"I dialed 911 and got myself out. I just left the phone off the hook and yelled fire and that was all i could do," said 61 year old homeowner, Carol Leach.

Leach was later transported to University Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation.

It took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the fire out, but contained it to one condo.

All of Leach's belongings now gone. Some items date back to her childhood.

"I had a rocking chair that my parents worked on. My father did the woodwork and my mother did the needle point on it, and it's all gone," said Leach.

Two other residents -- an adult and a child -- have also been displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross will be helping everyone that was displaced.

Damage is estimated at $80,000.
