Importance of air conditioning maintenance in the heat
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Air conditioning is the most effective way to escape the heat here in the Valley.
So you can imagine, when that device is not working properly, there's a lot of uncomfortable people out there.
When temperatures get into the hundreds, so do the calls to local air conditioning companies.
Jeremy Anderson, CEO at Aire Serv, said to Action News, "We get to be heroes for just a few minutes in the air conditioning industry when that cool air starts coming back through."
Jeff Smith was all smiles after the air came back on at his home. He and his wife had to sleep through temperatures in the 90s overnight.
"Basically didn't sleep at all last night. About three showers between us a piece," said Smith.
In his case, it was a busted compactor; one of the more common AC repairs.
It's also something that will run you around $200 and can usually be avoided with proper maintenance.
In most cases, a simple $50 yearly maintenance check could have prevented all of these problems.
Most air conditioning companies in the Valley are on call 24/7 so if you have an AC problem in the middle of the night, they'll come out and fix it.
