Fatal Reno shooting victim was suspect's wife
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A Reno man remains jailed without bail in the suspected murder of his 32-year-old wife in a shooting that closed part of a U.S. highway for nearly eight hours through Monday's morning commute.
Police identified the victim for the first time Tuesday as Korinda Rodriguez. They confirmed she was the wife of 29-year-old Jeffrey Rodriguez, who is accused of killing her. She died at the scene.
Officers responded about 2:30 a.m. Monday after a traffic accident was reported on US 395 just north of Reno and someone began shooting at motorists stopping to help.
In addition to open murder, Jeffrey Rodriguez has been booked on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Police released no other new information Tuesday.
