215 and West Sunset Road crash victim identified
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One person was killed in a crash on 215 near West Sunset Road on Tuesday afternoon.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 12:40 p.m. and involved a Lexus and a Honda CRV.
Officers said the Honda, driven by 84-year-old Katherine Shaker of Las Vegas, was traveling north on West Raphael Rivera Way, approaching the intersection at Sunset Road. The Lexus was traveling east on Sunset Road, approaching the same intersection.
Investigators said Shaker ran a red light as the Lexus was traveling through the intersection.
Shaker's vehicle overturned after the collision. The side of the Lexus hit a traffic signal pole and caught fire.
The driver of the Lexus was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Shaker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lanes were shut down in the area as authorities investigated the crash.
