Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- More details are being released about the teen-age boys accused of intentionally drowning two newborn kittens in a cup of water.

Animal Control has released the paperwork that details the excuse the two boys gave when first questioned about the incident.

In the report, the investigating officer says he asked the suspects if they had drowned the two kittens. They replied that they had looked online and found a website that stated 'if a human touches a newborn kitten, the mother would reject them.'

Stacia Newman doesn't understand that excuse.

She lives in the neighborhood where the crime happened and is an animal activist. According to the Animal Control report, Newman was there when the investigating officer questioned the boys.

Newman has since adopted the stray cat who gave birth to the murdered kittens.

"Luckily, she is healthy and doing well," she says. "She's been traumatized. I want to see justice served. We have laws in place, and we need to enforce those laws. There's no excuse for it. You do the crime, you do the time. Killing animals is an adult decision, that should have adult consequences."

The teenagers are still in juvenile detention, and are undergoing psychological evaluations. They're expected to be back in court for sentencing on Tuesday, July 17.
