Rescue crews respond to presumed drowning in Searchlight
Lake Mohave, NV (KTNV) -- Rescue crews were called to the scene of a drowning Sunday morning. A 36-year-old man and his 3-year-old son have died as result.
It happened around 11:20 a.m. at Six Mile Cove near Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told Action News a 36-year-old male and a 3-year-old fell off a raft and into the water.
Officials said neither was wearing life jackets.
The man died on the scene and the child was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead, according to the National Park Service.
According to the NPS, the man who died is the 3-year-old's father.
Swimmers spotted the man and his son floating in the water about 25 yards from shore.
The National Park Service's Criminal Investigators are responding to continue the investigation into exactly what happened.
The Clark County Coroner will make the final determination as to what caused the deaths; however, presumed drowning is the cause at this time.
