Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas local Bryce Harper won't be an all star this year after all.

The fan votes are in and 19-year-old Harper did not win enough support.

This was all part of a contest put on by the Major League Baseball where fans could vote for the final player on the American and National League rosters in its annual All Star Game.

Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese made the squads.

Nevada Senator Harry Reid has been a supporter of Harper.

Reid quoted Harper during an interview on Capitol Hill with Harper's now famous "That's a clown question, bro" comment.

The Senate Majority Leader also took to Twitter to try and drum up votes for Harper. He tweeted "Today I'm casting a big vote: Bryce Harper for All Star Team."

That tweet is getting some backlash this morning.

One person tweeted back "How about casting a vote on a budget, or a jobs bill? Unbelievable!"

Another person quipped: "How's that budget coming along? Or is that a clown question?"

The All-Star Game will take place July 10 in Kansas City.
