Firefighting camp in Lund to open for public visit
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Residents are being invited to tour a temporary camp in Lund that houses crews battling one of three large wildfires in eastern Nevada.
Bureau of Land Management fire spokeswoman Patti Bute said Thursday the 10 a.m. Friday tour of the Egan Fire command post at Lund School is being offered because people usually don't see camps in remote areas.
About 260 firefighters are still on the more than 11-square-mile fire in the South Egan Wilderness. It's 50 percent contained, with full containment expected Sunday.
Elsewhere, firefighters expect full containment Thursday of the 7-square-mile Range fire northeast of Ely.
Firefighters also report near containment of the nearly 20-square-mile North Schell Fire near the Utah state line.
