Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Four people were injured and 46 residents were displaced Thursday evening in a massive fire at an apartment complex on Karen Avenue.

The fire was reported at about 6:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Karen, near Sahara and Maryland Parkway.

Clark County firefighters were called to the scene and several units worked to stop the blaze.

Officials say a firefighter suffered a minor injury. Two women and a man also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The blaze sent smoke in the sky, visible for miles across the Valley. Crews were able to put out the fire by 8:45 p.m.

A preliminary report has investigators thinking the fire was started by fireworks.

22 units in the complex were destroyed, forcing 46 residents out of their homes. The local Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
