Foreclosure review application deadline July 31
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- A July 31 deadline is approaching for Nevadans whose homes were in foreclosure in 2009 or 2010 to apply for a federal independent foreclosure review.
Nevada state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto says the free reviews are a legitimate program.
They're key to determining whether people are eligible for compensation or other relief because of errors or paperwork problems during the foreclosure process.
Masto says more than 4.3 million mailers explaining the process were sent to eligible homeowners in 2011.
The program is overseen by the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.
To be eligible, the home loan must apply to a primary residence.
Forms and information are still available at www.independentforeclosurereview.com or 888-952-9105.
