Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Locals and tourists alike celebrated the Fourth of July in Las Vegas despite rainy, windy and overcast conditions for much of the day.
About 300,000 visitors were expected to spend the holiday in Las Vegas this year, up about 6 percent from last year.
Action News talked to tourists at the Las Vegas sign, snapping photos and planning to view the fireworks display despite inclement weather.
Hundreds of locals spent the morning in Summerlin for the annual Fourth of July parade there, where weather didn't stop the show from going on.
Station Casinos said they had plans in place for their fireworks shows in case the rains continued.
Lake Mead saw a busy afternoon as boaters were caught up in severe winds early in the afternoon. The National Park Service reported at least six boats capsized or sunk. 20 people were rescued from those vessels, but no injuries were reported.
