Mo-ped driver critically injured in crash
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A mo-ped driver was critically injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Mojave Road.
The accident happened at about 3:09 p.m. According to a report from the Las Vegas police, a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by 35-year-old Amanda Vega-Chavez of Las Vegas was traveling west on Washington in the left travel lane.
A 2009 VIP mo-ped was traveling north on Mojave in the only northbound lane.
As the moped entered the intersection, so did the Prius against a red traffic signal.
The moped struck the left side of the Prius.
65-year-old Refugio Herrera of Las Vegas was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with critical injuries. Vega-Chavez was not injured.
The collision remains under investigation by the accident investigation section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
