Coroner IDs elderly man killed crossing Tropicana
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas coroner's office has identified the 73-year-old man that was killed while crossing Tropicana Avenue on Friday night as Ricardo Pablo Somera from Las Vegas.
The accident happened at about 11:06 p.m. According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, Somera was crossing Tropicana from the north to south outside of a marked crosswalk near Rogers Street.
A 2012 Jeep Compass driven by 39-year-old Jennifer Nases was traveling eastbound on Tropicana in the right travel lane when she struck Somera.
He was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.
Somera's death was the 62nd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2012.
The collision is still under investigation.
