Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Fourth of July fireworks go on sale today across the Las Vegas Valley.

The only fireworks that are legal in Clark County are "safe-n-sane" fireworks. And they have a label right on the box so that you can be sure of what you are buying.

The Las Vegas Fire and Rescue put on a demonstration yesterday to show the dangers of using the illegal kind.

Illegal fireworks are usually the ones that fly up in the air, twirl on the ground or explode.

Every year, our local fire departments respond to numerous house and garage fires that are started by fireworks.

Most of them are caused by fireworks that are not disposed of properly. This includes the safe and sane fireworks.

Experts say that you should have a bucket full of water for proper disposal. Soak the duds until they are pretty much mush. Then you can throw them away.
