State documents give details into families of mobile home fire
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Many questions still surround the mobile home fire that killed three children.
It's unclear what exactly happened that day and what started the fire at Van's Trailer Oasis, near Las Vegas Boulevard North and Cheyenne, June 15.
The three children who died were identified this week as David Gouailhardou and Skylar and Aryana Lafia, all under the age of 3.
Officials say the three children and their parents were asleep at the time of the fire; a man and his son, and the man's girlfriend and her two kids. The parents made it out safely, but all three children died.
New state documents shed a little light on the background of these families.
This week, the state released the child fatality disclosure forms. They show past experiences that both families have had with Child Protective Services in Clark County.
According to the documents, back in April, welfare workers investigated abuse allegations involving Skylar and Aryana. However, the case was found unsubstantiated because the alleged perpetrator did not have custody of the children. That case was closed about a month later.
CPS also received an abuse allegation involving David in June of 2011. But officials say the information did not provide enough evidence to begin an investigation, in turn, the case was closed.
The documents also show, the mother of Skylar and Aryana faced four neglect allegations in 2005 and 2006 involving a different child. Three were labeled unsubstantiated; the other case was closed because investigators couldn't find an address for the family.
The cause of the mobile home fire is still being investigated, along with the cause and manner of the childrens' deaths.
