Biden scheduled to speak at Latino event in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden is the scheduled keynote speaker at an upcoming National Council of La Raza annual conference in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the meeting July 7-10 will be the first in Nevada for the Latino group. The state is seen as election battleground in the race for the White House in November.
La Raza Vice President Ron Estrada says Nevada Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval will deliver a videotaped speech because he'll be out of town during the conference.
Several other Obama administration officials are set to appear, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Housing Secretary Shaun Donovan and consumer protection chief Richard Cordray.
La Raza invited GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney, but his campaign hasn't confirmed whether he'll attend or send a representative.
