International travelers excited about McCarran's new terminal
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- McCarran International Airport will open its new terminal Wednesday. Many hope it will help Las Vegas' struggling economy take off again.
"Terminal 3" cost more than $2 billion dollars to build. It will significantly expand the number of international passengers McCarran can handle.
Airport officials say it's the visitors from overseas that have been providing a big economic boost for Las Vegas.
The terminal features a lot of new technology and amenities. There will be more self-service kiosks and free wireless Internet throughout the whole building.
It will also have an expanded hall for security and U.S. Customs, with the goal of making travel more efficient.
Action News found international travelers who are excited about the new terminal.
"Waiting time can be horrendous at American airports, especially for international travelers," says Masi Zaki, from Australia. "A larger international terminal, would definitely help. It will make me more likely to return to Las Vegas."
"International travel should be more comfortable and kid-friendly," adds Snigdha Sharma from Australia. "It sounds like the new terminal will help with that. It sounds awesome!"
