Fire causes $100,000 in damage at home on Sutro
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Fire and Rescue is investigating what caused a house fire Saturday morning.
The fire was called in just before 2 a.m. in the area of West Washington Avenue and North Tonopah Drive.
When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from a one-story home on Sutro Lane. They found a fire in the master bedroom closet. It took them one-minute to put the fire out.
Investigators say it appears the fire had been smoldering for some time and produced thick smoke and extremely high heat inside the home, which caused the most damage.
The closet in the master bedroom and attic space directly above the closet sustained fire damage. The rest of the house has smoke and heat damage.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
The residents of the home were out of town at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
No injuries were reported.
