North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The city of Las Vegas has approved a plan to accept inmates from North Las Vegas jail.

The vote for the plan was unanimous. North Las Vegas says that closing the jail would save at least $11 million per year.

The North Las Vegas will have to pay Las Vegas almost $7 million per year to house its prisoners and the city of Las Vegas will need to hire more corrections officers to handle the influx of inmates.

Up to one hundred corrections officers in North Las Vegas will most likely lose their jobs.

The plan still needs to be approved by the North Las Vegas City Council.
