UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies after collision with city utility truck
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 21-year-old Henderson man has died after he crashed his motorcycle into a City of Henderson utility truck Saturday afternoon near Whitney Ranch Drive and Patrick Lane.
Witnesses told Henderson Police the driver of the motorcycle was driving at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the city utility truck driven by Danielle Havis, who was on duty at the time of the crash.
Police said Havis was making a left-hand turn from Plain Sight Avenue onto Whitney Ranch Drive when the motorcycle collided with the Ford F-150 truck.
The motorcycle driver, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected on to the windshield of the truck. Havis stayed on the scene to assist the injured driver. Havis had minor injuries.
The motorcycle driver was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma with critical injuries. He died late Saturday night.
The intersection was closed for more than three hours while the on-scene investigation was completed.
The investigation is ongoing and Henderson Police have not ruled out the use of drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash. However, they have considered speed of the motorcycle to be a factor.
Havis submitted to a blood test after the crash.
The name of the motorcycle driver has not been released.
