Suspect chased by police found dead in Reno trash
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Reno police are investigating the death of a man found inside a trash compactor where he apparently was trying to hide from law enforcement officers who were chasing him.
The name of the 37-year-old victim has not been released.
Police Sgt. Dave Della says authorities started pursuing the man about 11 a.m. Wednesday after marshals at Reno Municipal Court identified him as matching the description of a suspect wanted on an arrest warrant.
Della says the suspect took off on a bicycle but crashed near the Truckee River and then was able to shake his pursuers. Less than 15 minutes later, officers found the man dead in the trash compactor at a nearby apartment complex.
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
