Child on bike hit by car in North Las Vegas
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) -- Police say a passing landscaping crew helped free a 12-year-old bicyclist who was pinned under a van after he was struck on the way to school in North Las Vegas.
North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell says the boy was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment of broken bones and other injuries after the accident about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The boy is expected to be OK.
Bedwell says the driver of the van stopped for other children crossing Tropical Parkway near Goldfield Street and began driving again when the bicyclist rode into the path of her vehicle.
Bedwell says the crew of landscapers stopped and jacked up the van to reach the boy before police and firefighters arrived.
