Phoenix man sentenced for Arizona, Nevada bank heists
PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for multiple bank robberies in Arizona and Nevada.
Prosecutors say 31-year-old Pedro Isaac Martinez was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix. He also was ordered to pay more than $19,000 in restitution.
Martinez previously pleaded guilty to indictments out of Arizona and Nevada that charged him with armed bank robbery, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and interference with commerce by violence.
Authorities say Martinez committed seven bank robberies in Arizona and Nevada between September 2010 and January 2011.
They say Martinez used a handgun in each of those robberies and discharged the firearm during two of the robberies.
