Arena hopeful wins bid for BLM land in Henderson
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A developer who wants to build a sports arena and entertainment venue in Henderson is the winning bidder for a plot of federal land near the M Resort south of the Las Vegas Strip.
Chris Milam and his company, Silver State Land LLC, put up $2.1 million after the Monday bid.
He has until Dec. 3 to come up with the rest of the $10.5 million for the approximately 480 acres of Bureau of Land Management property.
Milam spokeswoman Lee Haney tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (bit.ly/KcRL8K) that Milam plans to break ground by Dec. 31.
Milam has proposed several other stadium or arena projects in Las Vegas and the Strip over the years.
His Henderson proposal is one of at least three stadium projects in the Las Vegas area.
