Teen tells police he accidentally shot sister dead
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Police in northern Nevada say a teenager told investigators he accidentally shot his younger sister to death.
Sparks police say the 13-year-old girl was found dead about 3 p.m. Monday when officers were called to a report that someone entered an apartment on East Prater Way, shot the girl and escaped out a window.
Police say the 17-year-old brother later admitted he shot his sister.
The names of the teens weren't made public, and it wasn't immediately clear who owned the gun.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the weapon was confiscated by police.
The teen is being held at the Jan Evans Juvenile Detention Facility on charges including involuntary manslaughter and being a minor in possession of a firearm.
