LAS VEGAS (AP) -- President Barack Obama will speak at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Thursday, making his fourth trip to the Silver State this year.

The event at UNLV's Cox Pavilion is scheduled to begin around 1 p.m.

The White House says it is open to the public but tickets are required.

Obama made an overnight visit to southern Nevada in late January and made a brief stop in Boulder City in March.

Last month he was in Reno, where he visited with a couple who re-financed their home through a program initiated by Obama.

Nevada is an important swing state in November's presidential election.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigned in Las Vegas last week.
