I-15 southbound at Russell now open to traffic
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Nevada Department of Transportation announced Interstate-15 southbound is now open to traffic.
The area opened at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, just in time to accommodate tourism traffic heading back to California.
The closure was due to the replacement of the railroad bridge over I-15, just south of Russell Road.
The closure began Friday at 10 p.m. and concluded Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
The DOT said the closure went smoothly overall, with drivers using marked detours.
This is the last major shutdown of I-15 for the South Design Build project.
The northbound lanes are scheduled to open in the next two weeks, with the project wrapping up in August.
