Police searching for gunman, victim's mother speaks out
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police are still searching for a gunman who left a Valley man without two of his fingers.
The shooting happened at an apartment complex near Tropicana Avenue and Tamarus Street around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
More than a half dozen Metro patrol cars responded to Dana Washington’s apartment just moments after she watched someone shoot her son.
“I had ducked when we heard the gunshot, when I felt it was safe to lift up my head, I saw the back of the person running.”
She said she overheard the conversation coming his room begin to escalate, and when she entered she saw the shooter pointing a gun right at her son's face.
Washington said her son knocked the gun away, but a bullet struck his hand causing him to lose two of his fingers.
Washington said she has no idea who the gunman was, but she had a message for him, “I hope Metro finds you sweetheart, catches your a** before I do, because I am on the hunt for you. That was my child you hurt, and I hope that nobody else gets hurt like this.”
