Fire department battles fire near Jimmy Durante & Tropicana
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County Fire Department was called to the scene of a townhouse fire at about 7:45 a.m. Friday morning in the 4800 block of Benecia Way, near Jimmy Durante Boulevard and East Tropicana Avenue.
The occupant of the townhouse was able to escape safely and called 911. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire upon arrival.
The next-door family was evacuated as a precaution.
The fire was contained to one room in the townhouse and part of the attic.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Damage is estimated at about $20,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
