Berkley Senate TV ad focuses on Democrat's roots
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Shelley Berkley's campaign is running a new TV commercial depicting the Nevada U.S. Senate candidate as a product of the American Dream.
The ad released Tuesday in the Reno area focuses on the Democrat's working class roots. It describes her family moving cross-country when she was 12 and her dad landing a job as a waiter.
The commercial says Berkley is the first in her family to go to college, and describes her years as a Nevada university regent and a congresswoman.
It ends by saying Berkley wants to make Nevada a land of opportunity.
Berkley is in a tight race with Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, who was appointed to the post last year after the resignation of Sen. John Ensign.
