Hotline volunteer helps woman get her car rims replaced for free
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Cars can be costly to maintain especially if something goes wrong. But when it's defective, it shouldn't cost you a dime. But that's not the experience one Valley woman had so she turned to Contact 13.
"One day as I was leaving work and when I was backing up I heard a clicking noise in the car," said Rachel Ciardullo.
That's when Rachel knew it was time to take her car to the dealer. Rachel says the dealership told her she needed new rims for some of her tires.
"They called me later on to say that it was wear and tear," said Rachel.
In a hurry to get it fixed, Rachel had them put new rims on. But then she did some research online and found other people with the same car also had problems with their rims. Rachel told the dealership she thought they might be defective. But she says they told her they couldn't help. So the next call Rachel made was to our Call for Action hotline.
"One of your volunteers told me to go to a different dealership. I did, I spoke to a gentleman in charge he got in touch with a regional district manager," explained Rachel.
Rachel says she took the old cracked rims to that second dealership who said they were defective, not normal wear and tear. Within two weeks, Rachel got reimbursed all the money she spent to replace them.
"Your volunteers were excellent and they gave me the right advice I needed," said Rachel.
So now Rachel is driving around worry free and hopes others will be proactive consumers like she was.
"Go online to look and see if anything regarding their problem was a major concern if anyone else had any concerns about it," said Rachel.
So here's the Contact 13 bottom line. If you have a problem with your car, get multiple estimates in writing. Take pictures of hold onto the parts in question so you have evidence. If you're still running into a problem, do what Rachel did and call our Call for Action hotline at 368 - 2255.
