Authorities ID skydiver found dead in Lake Tahoe
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 28-year-old skydiver who died after landing in the waters of Lake Tahoe.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's office says the body of South Lake Tahoe resident Robert Ranieri was recovered about noon Tuesday near Camp Richardson and Pope Beach.
Ranieri was one of three experienced skydivers who jumped from a helicopter about 8 a.m. Tuesday. They aimed for the shoreline near Camp Richardson but ended up in the water.
Rescuers from several agencies responded to emergency calls about the parachuters, and two of the skydivers were rescued.
Ranieri's death is being investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Aviation Administration.
