Wind damage cleanup closes local businesses
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Gusts of wind swept through parts of the Valley on Monday afternoon, forcing the shut down of a popular after-school hang out for some high school students.
Family Dollar near Eastern and Owens remained closed on Tuesday after damage to the building's roof. The business was declared unsafe to enter by the City of Las Vegas.
The city building inspector spent the day surveying the property to evaluate the damage to Family Dollar and other business in the same shopping complex.
Customers were surprised to see the stores closed on Tuesday, especially Rancho High School students who frequent the nearby location.
"It's always between McDonald's and Family Dollar," Rancho High School junior K.C. Tangan. "So I think a lot of people will be affected by this."
The manager said the store will be closed for the foreseeable future, but that all employees were assigned to other Family Dollar locations in the Valley and started work right away.
