3 honored at annual Nevada peace officers ceremony
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- It was a somber ceremony on the grounds of the Nevada Capitol as the names of three officers were added to Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Carson City.
Those honored Thursday included Jack London, a Clark County sheriff's deputy who died May 17, 1943 from injuries suffered after being struck by a vehicle while on a traffic stop.
Drug Enforcement Agent Don Ware of Las Vegas was shot in a gun battle in Mexico while conducting an undercover operation. He died years later, on Oct. 12, 2004, while undergoing surgery to repair damage from his wounds.
Also honored was Nevada Correctional Officer Tracy Hardin, who broke his ankle during a fight with an inmate. He later suffered a blood clot related to the fracture and died in January.
