Funeral services held for child attacked by family dog
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Funeral services were held Thursday for a one-year-old boy, who was mauled to death last weekend at a home in Henderson.
The family also held a balloon release, in honor of Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan, at a cemetery in northwest Las Vegas.
The attack happened during a party to celebrate the toddler's first birthday. His family says Jeremiah tried to pull himself off the floor, by tugging on the dog, causing the dog to bite down on the boy.
In an email to Action News, Jeremiah's father said he wants his son's death to be a lesson to other parents, to never let your guard down when a child is near a pet.
A fund to help the family pay for funeral expenses has been established at Wells Fargo. The name of the fund is the Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan Memorial Fund. The account number is 7709151398.
Also, anyone wanting to wire money to the account can send it to Wells Fargo Bank, 420 Montgomery, San Francisco, CA 94104, wire routing transit number 121000248.
