Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A not guilty plea was entered in a Las Vegas court this morning on the behalf of the 22-year-old man accused of killing a mother and daughter on the morning of April 16 in central Las Vegas.

Bryan Clay appeared in Justice of the Peace Joe Sciescento's courtroom. His appearance was brief and he said very little.

Clay was told by the judge to be back in court on June 15 for a preliminary hearing.

Deputy District Attorneys Pam Weckerly and Robert Daskas with the Major Violators Unit have been assigned to prosecute the case.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson would not say whether or not his office will seek the death penalty in the case.

Dan Silverstein has been assigned as public defender for Clay.

The only representative from the Martinez family in court this morning was the brother of Yadira Martinez.

The bodies of 38-year-old Ignacia "Yadira" Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez were discovered after a 9-year-old boy went to Hoggard Elementary on April 16 and told school officials that his mother and sister were dead and that his father was injured.

Arturo Martinez, 39, remains in a coma in a local hospital. He does not yet know that his wife and daughter are dead.

The 9-year-old boy who reported the attack and a 4-year-old boy were not injured,.

Clay is facing along list of charges related to the attack on the Martinez family.

He is also facing charges for an attack on a 50-year-old woman not far from the Martinez home just hours before the attack at the Robin Street house.

Clay is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.
